  • Because many people are unsure whether they need treatment or what support involves. A conversation allows you to talk openly about your situation, understand your options, and decide next steps without pressure, judgement, or commitment.

  • Recognising that something may need to change is an important first step. Begin by noticing your drinking patterns and reflecting on how alcohol is affecting your health, relationships, and daily life.

    Many people find it helpful to speak with a qualified professional to gain clarity and support. A confidential conversation with Lumera can help you understand your options and decide next steps safely and confidently.

  • You may consider seeking support if alcohol or drug use is affecting your health, relationships, work, or sense of control, or if you have tried to cut back without lasting success. You do not need to be in crisis to benefit from early support. We offer a free initial phone consultation.

  • No. You do not need a GP referral to contact Lumera or book an appointment. You can self-refer at any time. If you already have a GP or health professional involved, we are happy to work collaboratively with them.

  • Your first contact is a confidential conversation with a qualified professional who listens to your concerns and explains your options. We help you decide whether our services are appropriate and what the safest next steps may be, with no obligation to proceed.

  • Yes. All enquiries and appointments are handled confidentially. Your privacy is respected at every stage, and information is only shared with your consent or where required by law to ensure safety.

  • Yes. Lumera supports people across a broad range of alcohol and drug use patterns, including grey area drinking. You do not need to identify as dependent to seek support. We help you explore your relationship with substances and develop practical, drug-free strategies for change.

  • No. Detox or medication is not automatically required. Lumera provides drug-free treatment programs and does not require medication as a starting point. If additional clinical support is recommended for safety reasons, we can help you access appropriate referral services.

  • No. Lumera does not operate residential rehabilitation facilities. We provide drug-free, personalised treatment and one-to-one support to help people understand their substance use and build sustainable recovery pathways.

    If assessment indicates that residential rehabilitation may be beneficial, we work closely with trusted rehabilitation centres and health providers to support appropriate referrals and coordinated care.

  • Yes. Telehealth and video appointments are available and can be booked via the “Book a session” link on our website.

    Where possible, appointments are generally recommended in person. If you are currently experiencing problematic alcohol or drug use, an initial assessment will usually need to be completed face-to-face so appropriate clinical observations and withdrawal risk assessments can be conducted safely.

  • In-person appointments are currently available on Mondays in West Perth, Tuesdays in West Leederville, and Wednesdays in Mount Lawley, during standard business hours. Telehealth and video appointments are generally available from Monday to Wednesday, with some evening and Saturday morning sessions offered where possible.

    Availability may vary, so we recommend contacting us or using the “Book a session” link on our website to view current appointment times.

    In some situations, particularly where there are concerns about current alcohol or drug use, an initial face-to-face assessment may be recommended to ensure safety and appropriate clinical care.

  • Yes, there is a cost for Lumera’s services. Lumera is a fee-for-service provider, and fees vary depending on the type and length of support required. Fees are available on our bookings page.

    At this time, rebates are not available through Medicare, private health insurance, Workers Compensation, or the NDIS. We aim to be transparent about costs so you can make informed decisions about your care.
